A personal piece rather than client work. Animated in After Effects and exported as a web-optimised Lottie file, the same format used for the smaller touches dotted around this site.

After Effects Lottie

This was a fun experiment in animating different characteristics: the tension building in the toaster before it ejects, the squashiness of the rotating sausage, the excitable, wired coffee cup. I wanted each character to have its own thing in a style that's cute and modern.

The characters were designed in Figma, which is a bit of an odd choice over Illustrator or Photoshop. But, having used Figma to design mobile apps over the years, I've grown really fond of it's visual design features. The drawback is that it's a tedious workflow to get the assets into After Effects. To fix that, I've started to use Overlord by Battleaxe, which immediately plonks my Figma designs directly into After Effects.
